Bright not right for ACU.

IN A STORY ABOUT THE ARMY COMBAT UNIFORM (ACU ACU - Abilene Christian University (formerly Abilene Christian College; Abilene, TX, USA)
ACU - Australian Catholic University
ACU - Acceleration Control Unit
ACU - Acknowledgement Signal Unit
ACU - Acquisition Control Unit
ACU - Address Calculation Unit (digital electronics)
ACU - Advanced Combat Uniform
ACU - Agrupacion Catolica Universitaria
ACU - Air Cleanup Unit
ACU - Air Compressor Unit
ACU - Air Conditioning Unit
ACU - Aircraft Control Unit
) IN PS 637, WE ADVISED YOU TO WASH THE ACU IN A MILD DETERGENT THAT DOES NOT HAVE OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS.

THE CARE LABEL ON THE ACU SAYS THE SAME THING.

BUT NOWHERE--NOT EVEN IN THE CARE MANUAL--DOES IT SAY WHICH DETERGENTS CONTAIN BRIGHTENERS AND WHICH DON'T.

WE'VE CORRECTED THAT OVERSIGHT.

THE ARMY HAS DETERMINED THAT ANY VERSION OF THE FOLLOWING DETERGENT IS SAFE TO USE ...

PREFER USING A STORE BRAND OR GENERIC BRAND OF DETERGENT? LOOK FOR A STATEMENT ON THE PACKAGING THAT SAYS "COMPARE TO [BRAND NAME]."

MATCH THAT BRAND NAME TO THE LIST ABOVE. THAT WAY YOU'LL BE SRE SRE - Sancta Romana Ecclesia (Latin: Holy Roman Church, epigraphy)
SRE - Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts
SRE - Search Radar Element
SRE - Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (México)
SRE - Self Routing (Switch) Element
SRE - Self-Recovering Equalization
SRE - Serum Response Element (biochemistry)
SRE - Settlement Reporting Entity
SRe - Seychelles Rupee (national currency)
SRE - Shift Register Encode
SRE - Signal Reference Earth (electric installations)
THE DETERGENT'S SAFE TO USE WILL THE ACU.

OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS ARE OUT BECAUSE THEY WEAR DOWN THE PROTECTION BUILT INTO YOUR ACUS AND ACCELERATE FADING OF THE CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN.

REMEMBER TO TURN THE ACU'S JACKET AND TROUSERS INSIDE OUT BEFORE YOU WASH THEM.

THAT PROLONGS THE LIFE OF THE HOOK-AND-PILE FASTENER'S AND KEEPS THEM FROM CATCHING ON OTHER ITEMS.
