The popular weatherman, who broadcast a live weather bulletin from the show yesterday, said although the event was off to a bad start, garden enthusiasts could look forward to a bright and sunny weekend.

"Saturday and Sunday will be warm and sunny with temperatures reaching 16 degrees Centigrade centigrade /cen·ti·grade/ (sen´ti-grad) having 100 gradations (steps or degrees); see under scale.

"It's a shame the weather is so bad today but when you think about it, it's perfect for the show.

"You have the initial cold and wet, which is great for all the flowers and plants. Then for the rest of the weekend they can get the benefits of the sunshine."
