Bright Ideas Introduces SelectArt, a New "A La Carte" Clip Art Subscription Service.CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 1997--Bright Ideas(R), the monthly original clip art and font subscription service for graphic designers, is introducing a new low-cost option that enables subscribers to purchase only the clip art they want from the service's monthly collection of over 100 original images, backgrounds, fonts and 3D models. The new option, called Bright Ideas SelectArt(TM), gives subscribers a monthly copy of Bright Ideas magazine, a 40-page publication that includes printed reproductions of all of the month's art work as well as how-to discussions on computer design techniques, examples of Bright Ideas images in action, reviews of the latest desktop publishing products and miscellaneous tips. Subscribers can then purchase any of the images or fonts individually on disk or via e-mail. The cost is $36, $59 or $99 for a three-, six-, or 12-month subscription, plus $10 per image or $15 per font. Subscribers who order a background, texture or 3D model will receive the complete monthly collection, including clip art images and fonts, for $39.95. This is a cost-effective package for users who order only a few items every month. Heavier users can upgrade to a full-service Bright Ideas membership costing $49.95 per month and a one-time $39.95 membership fee. The service is available to both PC and Macintosh users. All images, fonts and other items are original designs created exclusively for Bright Ideas by in-house and contract artists. Shipments include seasonal art tailored to holidays, special occasions, weather and major sporting events. Each month's selection includes: -0- -- 80 exclusive images combining a wide variety of styles and subjects in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) A PostScript file format used to transfer a graphic image between applications and platforms. EPS files contain PostScript code as well as an optional preview image in TIFF, WMF, PICT or EPSI, the latter being an ASCII-only format. , TIFF and PCX (1) A bitmapped graphics file format that handles monochrome, 2-bit, 4-bit, 8-bit and 24-bit color and uses RLE to achieve compression ratios of approximately 1.1:1 to 1.5:1.
