Brig. Abid attacked by militants records statement.

ISLAMABAD, November 06, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Brig. Abid Sohaib, a high official of an intelligence agency was the main target of unknown assailants who attacked him in the I-8/4 sector of the capital on Friday morning. Brig. Abid Sohaib along with his driver Lance Naik Ramzan were wounded in shooting by motorcyclist gunmen in sector I-8-4 in Islamabad. Brig. Abid Sohaib in a statement before the high level military authorities said, the terrorists were on motorbike and one opened fire from Pistol while another used sub-machine gun. Both terrorists continued firing for some minute and they wanted to besiege his vehicle due to vigilance of his driver they could not succeeded in their nefarious design, he said, we have received minor injuries. We were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and after medical treatment we have been shifted to home, he said. The attack was the third targeting senior army commanders in the capital in around two weeks. On October 22, a Pakistani brigadier on leave from a UN peacekeeping mission was shot dead in the capital Islamabad. There was a similar gun attack on another military jeep on October 27, but no one was wounded.
