Springfield Public Library seeks board member The city of Springfield is accepting applications for a volunteer position on the Springfield Library Board. The person will fill the balance of a four-year term that expires Dec. 31. Applicants must be registered voters who live within the city. The board provides recommendations for future library development and changes to library service and library policy. Springfield human rights award presented Gloria Griffith, coordinator of the Springfield-Marcola Family Resource Centers, has been awarded the Human Rights Leadership Award by the Springfield Alliance for Equality and Respect. Griffith, an employee of the Springfield School District, was honored hon·or n. 1. High respect, as that shown for special merit; esteem: the honor shown to a Nobel laureate. 2. a. Griffith also helps with the Martin Luther King, Jr. contest and celebration, Safe Place and the McKinney Assistance and Training Team.
