Teen steps into traffic, gets hit by vehicle

A 15-year-old boy who left his fishing perch to get more worms early Thursday was struck by a car near Perkins Peninsula Park, about three miles west of Eugene.

Theft of cans deprives child of week at camp

The trash bags full of pop and beer cans in youth pastor Chris Hallford's pickup had a purpose - to help send local kids to a summer church camp.

But now the cans are gone, stolen in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon from in front of Hallford's home on Concord Street near Danebo Elementary School elementary school: see school.  in west Eugene.

"We probably lost $50 to $60 worth of cans," said Hallford, who helps at New Hope Christian Church in Veneta. "That's enough to send one kid to camp for the entire week."

Hallford reported to Eugene police that he saw a bearded white man in his 30s or 40s, possibly homeless, in the vicinity of his home Wednesday.

Youngsters at the church gathered most of the cans on a wet and rainy day last week, said Hallford, who will serve as head counselor at the weeklong church camp to be held in Drain in mid-July. Deer-motorcyle collision seriously injures driver

Car-truck accident puts woman in hospital
