Man flashes handgun

in hotel robbery attempt

A man showed a gun in a failed attempt to rob a Springfield hotel Friday evening, Springfield police said.

A hotel clerk at the Comfort Suites told police that a man came into the hotel at 969 Kruse Way, displayed a silver pistol and demanded money about 6:45 p.m. When the clerk was unable to immediately provide any money, the suspect left on foot and went north, police said.

Police searched but did not find the suspect. Detectives are investigating.

The suspect is described as white and in his 30s with a teardrop-shaped tattoo under his right eye. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and a white, teal teal: see duck.
