that cuts 150 jobs

PORTLAND - The Oregon Health & Science University board of directors approved an $898 million university and hospital budget that trims about 150 jobs and eliminates the state's only around-the-clock poison information center.

Provost Lesley Hallick said the university was forced to make the cuts because investments are down and so is help from the state, which is giving less money to medical, dental and nursing schools.

The amount of money given to hospitals and clinics for the care of poor patients is dropping, too.
