Bridgewater Teams with Sun-Netscape Alliance to Deliver Real-Time Provisioning Capabilities for Alliance Messaging Servers.


KANATA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1999--

Bridgewater Systems Corporation, a global provider of intelligent software for IP service provisioning and control, and the Sun-Netscape Alliance (Sun-Netscape Alliance, Santa Clara, CA) A joint venture of Sun and Netscape to market Netscape's Web-based software products. The Alliance was formed when AOL acquired Netscape in 1999 to take advantage of the fact that the bulk of Netscape software was already running on Sun hardware.  announced today that they are working together to offer service providers a real-time service provisioning and management framework for the Alliance's messaging server platform offering.

The integrated Bridgewater and Alliance solution is expected to enable service providers to expedite the provisioning of large-scale Internet messaging applications, and help decrease the time usually needed to realize a gain in revenue.

Bridgewater's WideSpan(tm) system enables service providers to rapidly create, provision, and deliver real-time, network-wide IP services through an open carrier-class software architecture. The Alliance's advanced messaging server platform is powerful software for hosting and managing large-scale Internet messaging services such as web mail, Internet Mail See Internet e-mail service.  Access Protocol (IMAP IMAP - Internet Message Access Protocol )-based email and unified messaging Having access to e-mail, voice mail and faxes via a common computer application or by telephone. For example, unified messaging may send faxes and digitized voice mail to a mail server that turns them into e-mail attachments. .
