Production of Bridgestone-brand radial passenger car tires has begun at the company's Bari, Italy plant. In Europe, the start-up of manufacturing Bridgestone-brand tires at Bari follows production begun earlier at company facilities in Burgos and Bilbao, Spain, and Bethune, France. The Bari plant is one of the most significant industrial facilities in the southern part of Italy, the company said. Total annual production planned at Bari is about 3.1 million units, out of which the Bridgestone brand will total about 175,000 units, sized 155/70R13 and 165/70R13. Total production at the plant will increase 20% from the present capacity by 1994.
