BridgeWave Communications Announces Integrated Switching Platform for its Gigabit Wireless Links.

SANTA CLARA Santa Clara, city, Cuba
Santa Clara (sän`tä klä`rä), city (1994 est. pop. 217,000), capital of Villa Clara prov., central Cuba.
, Calif. -- BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, announces the release of its new Integrated Switching Platform, now standard on all BridgeWave Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  and Fast Ethernet An earlier name for 100Mbps Ethernet. See 100Base-T.

(networking) Fast Ethernet - A version of Ethernet developed in the 1990s(?) which can carry 100 Mbps compared with standard Ethernet's 10 Mbps. It requires upgraded network cards and hubs.
wireless link products. BridgeWave gigabit wireless links are the first to provide remote network management access with integrated Ethernet add/drop switching capabilities.

The BridgeWave Integrated Switching Platform is unique in supporting add/drop gigabit wireless distribution applications, without the use of external network equipment. The platform allows network operators to create "virtual fiber" backbones using a series of back-to-back gigabit radio links deployed in a repeater configuration. Operators can then deliver 100-200 Mbps of capacity at each repeater site directly to building tenants from the radio units' new 100BaseT ports. Alternatively, the 100BaseT ports can be used to provide backhaul for outdoor metropolitan WiFi/WiMax hub deployments.

BridgeWave's network management system features an easy-to-use built-in web server providing local and remote monitoring (protocol) remote monitoring - (RMON) A network management protocol that allows network information to be gathered at a single computer. Whereas SNMP gathers network data from a single type of Management Information Base (MIB), RMON 1 defines nine additional MIBs that provide a  and configuration access. Management access is available either in-band through the main fiber interface, or out-of-band through the 100BaseT Ethernet port A socket on a computer or network device for plugging in an Ethernet cable. See WAN port.  should security requirements dictate separation of application and management data streams.

BridgeWave wireless links including the new Integrated Switching Platform are available for immediate delivery through BridgeWave distributors and value-added resellers.
