Objects, such as weapons and uniforms, that are connected with warfare or military service and are usually collected for their historical interest. Press has come up with another interesting title for collectors and shooters of nostalgia-type weapons. Authored by Brian Labudda and Ian Skennerton, this slim volume contains a treasure trove TREASURE TROVE. Found treasure. 2. Every page yields gems of information, whether it is from the text or the many illustrations. The beginning of the text provides a background as to the use of Lee-Enfields from the Boer War to post WW2, both in warfare and rifle club shooting. Then the book addresses such topics as the standard military No. 1 rifle, accurised No. 1 dries, No. 4 military service specifications, No. 4 accurised, ammunition, slings, sight, aiming off for wind, canting cant 1 n. 1. The next section of the book deals with an unexpectedly large array of .armourer's tools (mainly in colour) and their uses. Assuredly the old proverb "One picture is worth a thousand words" applies here. The final section deals with commercially produced aperture sights and heavy barrels made by the Lithgow Small Army Factory. There is a fine pictorial line up of aperture sights (Australian and foreign) including, of course, the "Central", which was first produced by the Dunn family in Victoria in 1935. Whether you are a collector, a shooter or an elderly rememberer of times past spent on a full bore rifle range, this is a novel and extremely interesting book that deserves a place on the shelf.
