Brian L. Roberts Named CableLabs Chairman; Collins Named Vice Chair.

LOUISVILLE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 1999--

Brian L. Roberts, President of Comcast Corporation, has been elected Chairman of Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs(R)).

Roberts becomes only the second chairman in CableLabs' history, succeeding long-time Chairman John C. Malone, Chairman of Liberty Media Corp., who resigned his position following completion of AT&T's acquisition of TCI last month.

Roberts has overseen Comcast's growth into the second largest cable operating company in North America which, upon completion of its pending acquisition of MediaOne Group, Inc., will provide service to some 11 million cable customers in 33 states.

He has been instrumental in implementing aggressively the broadband platform upon which advanced communications will be deployed, including digital video, high-speed data and voice. He has also expanded Comcast's development of content; the company is now principal owner of QVC, Comcast-Spectacor and Comcast SportsNet, and holds a controlling interest in E! Entertainment Television, as well as other programming investments. He has served as a member of the CableLabs Board of Directors and its Executive Committee since its inception in 1989.
