Brian Kretzmer Appointed CEO; Luke Brown Promoted to Chief Operating Officer; Sasun Musliyan Promoted to President of Legacy Division At MAI Systems Corp.

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1999--

MAI Systems Corp. (AMEX:NOW) Tuesday announced the appointment of Brian Kretzmer, 46, as chief executive officer of the company, and the promotion of Luke Brown, 41, to the position of chief operating officer.

In addition, Sasun Musliyan, 42, president of MAI Canada, has been appointed president of the company's Legacy Division. All three appointments are effective immediately.

Kretzmer replaces George Bayz, 45, as CEO of MAI Systems. In addition to his position as chief operating officer of MAI Systems and president of the CIMPRO division, Brown will become president of the company's HIS Division, a position also formerly held by Bayz. As chief operating officer, Brown replaces Lewis Stanton, 45, who has been the company's chief financial officer and chief operating officer since February 1997. Stanton remains CFO.

William Brian Kretzmer joins MAI Systems directly from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.-based Segue Corp., where he was executive vice president operations and CFO for this rapidly growing privately held provider of support services to computer manufacturers.

He held progressively responsible positions with MAI Systems between 1991 and 1997, beginning as North American Controller, progressing to CFO/CIO and treasurer, and heading Corporate Development. He also served as president of Gaming Systems International, a since-divested MAI subsidiary in the casino gaming market.

Prior to his service with MAI Systems, Kretzmer was vice president/finance, CFO, CIO and treasurer of the Stamford, Conn.-based North American Division of London-based International Computers Ltd. Inc., where he began in early 1986. He worked with Racal-Milgo as director of finance and business planning in the mid-1980s after serving in similar capacities at Parsippanny, N.J.-based Mohawk Data Sciences.

Kretzmer holds an MBA from Fairleigh-Dickinson University and a bachelor of arts degree in international studies from Montclair State University. He has since completed several courses in continuing education, including ISO 9000 training. The New Jersey native now resides in Dove Canyon, Calif. with his family.

Brown was appointed president of the Process Manufacturing Division in March 1998, having served previously as the company's vice president/general manager for global software support operations, including the company's Hotel Information Systems (HIS) group. He joined the company in 1993 as director of operations for the Process Manufacturing software unit.

Before joining MAI, Brown was vice president/customer service at Remanco Systems International, a provider of point-of-sale solutions. A 1980 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Brown spent nine years as a commissioned officer.

Brown will maintain residences in Orange County, Calif. and in Westchester County, N.Y.

Musliyan joined MAI Systems Inc. in 1983. He was appointed to head the Canadian operation in 1998, holding prior to that a series of progressively responsible positions in finance and operations in the Canadian group, culminating when he was director of finance & operations.

He holds a baccalaureate in economics from the University of Istanbul, and is a certified general accountant. He is a member of the Certified General Accountants Associations of Ontario and Canada, and resides in Markham, Ontario.
