Brian John Monaghan, former president, IHP, dies.

Caption: Brian John Monaghan, former president of International Holographic See holographic storage.  Paper (IHP), Chalfont, PA, died July 20 from chondrosarcoma and leiomyosarcoma. He was 34.

Mr. Monaghan transformed IHP's fine white paper business into a holographic paper success more than 10 years ago.

As president of IHP, Brian, along with his father, John, sold IHP to Illinois Tool Works Illinois Tool Works or ITW (NYSE: ITW) is a Fortune 500 company that produces engineered fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, and specialty products. It was founded in 1912 by Byron L. Smith, and three other men Frank W. England, Paul B.  (ITW ITW In The Wild (informatics, antivirus research)

) to become ITW Holographics in June of 2001. Mr. Monaghan was awarded three U.S. patents for his work in holography and graphics.

The International Hologram See holographic storage.  Manufacturing Association will honor Mr. Monaghan's memory with an annual award, the Brian Monaghan Business Innovation award. The award will be presented at the IHMA's annual meeting in London this month.

The Philadelphia Paper Cordage cordage (kôr`dĭj), collective name for rope and other flexible lines. It is used for such purposes as wrapping, hauling, lifting, and power transmission. Early man used strips of hide, animal hair, and plant materials.  Association will also honor his memory by instituting a scholarship award to an applicant who has high standing grades and is in need of financial assistance for college.
