Brex discovers significant extension of gold bearing horizon in Guyana.VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1996--BREX (ME BX.) Exploration Brex Inc. is pleased to announce significant results from its exploration program on its 100 percent owned Aremu property in Guyana. The property, located in the same geological province and setting as the Omai gold mine, covers an area of approximately fifty (50) square kilometers and contains known gold zones: the majority of the property remains unexplored. Exploration results to date have resulted in a new gold discovery which appears to be an extension of the previously known Aremu-Oko shear shear: see strength of materials. Shear A straining action wherein applied forces produce a sliding or skewing type of deformation. . The new discovery, located some 100 meters west, consists of gold bearing carbonaceous car·bo·na·ceous adj. Consisting of, containing, relating to, or yielding carbon. carbonaceous Adjective of, resembling, or containing carbon Adj. 1. bands in volcanics. Two samples, taken at 00 meter intervals resulted in assays of 0.55 oz/ton of gold and 0.12 oz/ton of gold across the zone which appears to be at least 20 meters in width. Geology and mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Mentioned in: Rickets mineralization, n the bioprecipitation of an inorganic substance. is consistent over the known length of the discovery which is open at both ends. The Company will continue sampling and geophysical ge·o·phys·ics n. Sampling was also carried out in the previously discovered Aremu-Oko shear located 100 meters to the east. The surface extension is over 1,000 meters in length and up to 500 meters in width. A grab sample Noun 1. grab sample - a single sample or measurement taken at a specific time or over as short a period as feasible sample - a small part of something intended as representative of the whole from trenching returned 1.85 ounces of gold per ton. The Aremu-Oko shear also consists of gold bearing carbonaceous bands in volcanics. Surface trench trench: see ocean. values from a previous exploration program returned continuous gold values of 0.33 ounces per ton over 15 meters, located some 500 meters laterally on strike the Brex discovery. As well, the property also contains a gold bearing system, the Aremu vein which is located approximately 5 km from the Aremu-Oko shear. It consists of over twenty gold quartz veins contained within a 4 km long shear zone, up to 300 meters in width. The gold veins vary in width from 7 to 30 meters and one vein, the Aremu, was mined in the early 1900's to depth of 30 meters. Mining grades were reported to average 0.44 ounces per ton. Limited drilling was carried out, however one drill hole returned a value of 0.26 ounces per ton over 30 meters. At the same time, Brex also announces that exploration on its Section 12 property in Nevada is ongoing. Further news will be released as available. CONTACT: Exploration Brex Inc.
