BURToN'S hopes of a league and FA Trophy The Football Association Challenge Trophy is an English football competition for clubs playing in levels 5-8 of the English football league system (steps 1-4 of the National League System)  double were shattered by their second heavy defeat of the season at the Lamex Stadium.

Stevenage Borough, 4-1 winners in the league encounter in September, clinched another emphatic victory over the Blue Square Premier League leaders to move into the last eight of the Trophy.

Morison broke the stalemate by drilling home a Mitchell Cole cross at the far post in the 32nd minute.

Burton's best spell of the gamecameas theychased a quick equaliser but Jamie Yates and Shaun Harrod were denied in quick succession by the fingertips of goalkeeper Chris Day while a Marc Goodfellowcrossbounced to safety after drifting against the far post.

Burton, however, surrendered tamely in the second half as their defensive flaws were fully exposed by Stevenage.

Cole struck with a low shot in the 52nd minute after Burton had failed to clear their lines and Morison galloped clear to round goalkeeper kevin Poole before shooting into an empty net nine minutes later.
