Brewer & Pritchard Wins Jury Verdict for Sandstone Products, Inc.; Jury Returns $5.4 Million Verdict for Deceptive Trade Practices and Fraud.


HOUSTON -- Following a month-long trial, a Houston jury returned a $5.4 million verdict for fraud and deceptive trade practices in Harris County Harris County is the name of several counties in the United States:

 Distrct Judge Sharolyn Wood's court on Tuesday. The verdict was in favor of Pasadena-based roof coating maker Sandstone Products, Inc. The verdict included $1,250,000 for defendant Scott Bader's knowing misconduct under Texas' Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Prior to the trial, Judge Wood also entered an order of sanctions for $69,000 for the defendants' knowing destruction and withholding of documents important to the case.

The jury verdict followed a month of trial and 7 days of deliberation.

Mark Brewer of Houston-based Brewer & Pritchard tried the lawsuit.

"This trial was about people honoring their word and their warranty," said Brewer. "The evidence showed that Sandstone 's efforts to produce a good product were stymied by Scott Bader's knowingly deceptive acts and its sale of raw materials which did not meet Bader's representations in their product literature, brochures and even their correspondence."
