As a representative of Barry University History Beginnings Barry University began as a result of by Patrick Barry's (Bishop of St. Augustine, FL) and Mother M. Gerald Barry's (Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of Adrian) dream of establishing an institution of higher education, one in which School of Law, I recently approached each professional organization with an idea. There are a number of Barry students who live in Volusia or Brevard counties but travel to Orlando to attend law school at Barry, and who intend to practice in their respective resident counties. Naturally, these students seek ways to network with, and learn from, their future colleagues. However, activities that involve students had not yet been established by either association. I proposed that the associations allow law school students to attend member functions, such as luncheons and seminars, to facilitate and encourage the professional networking that is necessary for all attorneys.
