Beginnings
Barry University began as a result of by Patrick Barry's (Bishop of St. Augustine, FL) and Mother M. Gerald Barry's (Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of Adrian) dream of establishing an institution of higher education, one in which
 School of Law, I recently approached each professional organization with an idea. There are a number of Barry students who live in Volusia or Brevard counties but travel to Orlando to attend law school at Barry, and who intend to practice in their respective resident counties. Naturally, these students seek ways to network with, and learn from, their future colleagues. However, activities that involve students had not yet been established by either association. I proposed that the associations allow law school students to attend member functions, such as luncheons and seminars, to facilitate and encourage the professional networking that is necessary for all attorneys.

While both the Volusia and the Brevard boards of directors concluded that an alteration of their bylaws The rules and regulations enacted by an association or a corporation to provide a framework for its operation and management.

The 14 students who attended the 2008 Brevard County Bar Professionalism Awards Luncheon were warmly welcomed and even had the chance to chat and pose for a picture with Supreme Court Justice Peggy Quince Peggy A. Quince (born 1948) has been a Justice of the Florida Supreme Court since 1999. She is the first African-American woman to sit on the state's highest Court and the third female Justice. From 1993 to 1997 she served as a judge on Florida's Second District Court of Appeal. . Students who attended the Volusia County Bar's Bench and Bar Professionalism Symposium celebrating Law Day were exposed to an array of insightful stories regarding professionalism and ethics ethics, in philosophy, the study and evaluation of human conduct in the light of moral principles. Moral principles may be viewed either as the standard of conduct that individuals have constructed for themselves or as the body of obligations and duties that a , and were able to have discussions with Supreme Court Justice Raoul Cantero.
