Breath of Life Ball(R) Honors Three Exemplary Californians.


LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America - Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Chapter, is pleased to announce its honoring of three extraordinary individuals at their annual Breath of Life Ball[R] on Saturday, December 9, 2006. The event will be held at the newly-constructed Plaza Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel The Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles is a landmark 19-story luxury hotel forming a sweeping crescent design fronting the spectacular fountains on Avenue of the Stars adjacent to the twin Century Plaza Towers.  in Century City, and will be hosted by Marty Ingels. Special guest appearance by famed astronaut, Buzz Aldrin.

Burt Rutan, world renowned aircraft pioneer, will be honored with his family with AAFA's "Walk of Fame Award". Burt Rutan is the American aerospace engineer noted for his originality in designing light, strong, unique-looking, energy-efficient aircrafts. He is most famous for his design of the record-breaking Voyager, which was the first plane to fly around the world without stopping or refueling, and the suborbital suborbital /sub·or·bi·tal/ (sub-or´bi-t'l) infraorbital.

 rocket plane, SpaceShipOne, which won the Ansari X-Prize in 2004. Backed by Virgin Airlines mogul, Richard Branson, Rutan will design aircrafts for Virgin Galactic, as they begin space tourism flights scheduled for 2008.

Art Linkletter, the legendary TV personality, will receive AAFA's "Humanitarian Award." Having hosted two of the longest running shows in broadcast history, House Party and People are Funny, Linkletter is probably best known for interviewing children on the beloved hit, Kids Say the Darndest Things. An author many times over, even at the age of 94, Linkletter's most recent book is "How to Make the Rest of Your Life, the Best of Your Life".

Gary Rachelefsky, MD, Past President of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI AAAAI American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology ), will be honored with AAFA's "Physician of the Year Award". An allergist al·ler·gist

The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America - Southern California Chapter, is the premiere charity helping those who suffer from asthma and allergic diseases. AAFA's Breathmobile[R] program, "an asthma clinic on wheels," helps keep children "in" school and "out" of emergency rooms, and has been successfully replicated across the country. AAFA's services include an Asthma Camp for inner city youth, Air Power Games[R], professional/community education programs, and much more.
