COSAN operates 12 mills in Southeastern Brazil with an annual consumption of approximately 50 million liters (13,208,993 gallons) of diesel fuel.

"We are glad to be the first company in Brazil to use O2Diesel's ethanol diesel blend for this initial implementation at our Da Barra mill. We are sure that benefits to the air quality will provide a healthier environment for both our employees and the community in which the mill operates," says Alexandre Aidar, COSAN Group commercial Director.

Peter Gross, General Manager of O2Diesel's Brazilian subsidiary, comments that "We are honored to be working with such a reputable, industry-leading corporation that understands the value of providing cleaner air for their workers and the regions of Brazil Brazil is currently divided in five regions, by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica (IBGE). These divisions are composed by states with similar cultural, economical, historical and social aspects, and although through the scientific point of view information given by this  in which they operate. We could not have hoped for a better first commercial customer for O2Diesel(TM) in Brazil than COSAN."

Brazil is the world's largest producer of ethanol with production in excess of 12.6 million cubic meters (3.3 billion US gallons) although with increased capacity being added regularly the US may pass that figure this year. Ethanol has been blended with gasoline in Brazil for nearly 30 years and today every litre of gasoline sold in Brazil contains at least 20% ethanol.

The product, O2Diesel(TM), combines ethanol with diesel fuel to dramatically lower greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter (PM) and the black smoke normally associated with diesel fuel.
