Brazil's Marta, England's Smith top WPS All-Stars


Brazilian star Marta and England's Kelly Smith Kelly Smith (born 29 October 1978 in Watford) is an English football player who currently plays in England for Arsenal Ladies. Previously, she was the only English player to play in the Women's United Soccer Association, the former professional women's league in the United States.  were among the Women's Professional Soccer All-Star 11 named Tuesday to face Swedish champions Umea IK in the US league's All-Star Game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games  on August 30.

Four Americans and seven international players were voted to the team in balloting split evenly between media, players, coaches and supporters.

Players selected Los Angeles Sol coach Abner Rogers to guide the squad in the All-Star matchup at suburban St. Louis. He will help select seven other players to fill out the lineup.
