RNP Expands with M-series Multiservice Edge Routers to Improve Performance of Data Exchange among Education Institutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR) today announced that the Brazilian National Research and Education Network (RNP) has again expanded the speed and capacity of its network backbone with Juniper Networks M-series routers. RNP's telecommunications infrastructure supports a nationwide IP academic network, enabling communications and the sharing of advanced applications and large research files among over 300 education and research institutions.

RNP's network employs advanced infrastructure for communication and collaboration, between educational institutions Co including federal universities and research entities from the Education and Sciences and Technology Ministries Co in the 26 states and the capital of the country, BrasE lia. The network also acts as a test network for the development of new applications and network services, such as videoconferencing and VoIP.

RNP had previously deployed Juniper Networks M320 and M40e platforms throughout its large, core points of presence (PoPs), and with this deployment is now expanding with M10i and M7i routers at smaller regional PoPs. The new platforms will increase the performance, scalability and reliability at the regional sites, and operate under the same JUNOS operating system as the core routers, simplifying management and enabling RNP to reduce operational expenses.
