An arrest warrant was issued after Mark Larner fled to South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa.  with a "substantial amount of cash" after being found guilty of riot in May.

The 47-year-old, from Upper Gornal in the Black Country, quietly returned to the UK and walked into a police station in the Bristol area to hand himself in.

He is now in custody and is due to be sentenced later this month.

It is not known how or when he managed to get back into the country.

Larner was one of eight men convicted at Birmingham Crown Court earlier this year for their part in the mass brawl between rival members of the Hell's Angels and Outlaws biker gangs at the airport in January 2008.

Up to 30 people, some armed with knives, hammers, machetes, knuckledusters and a meat cleaver, were involved in the battle in front of terrified ter·ri·fy
