Brave dad's anguish for wife he lost; DROWNINGS.


A DAD yesterday re-lived the pain of seeing his wife drown in a holiday tragedy.

Roy and Barbara Dinsmore rushed into the sea when a riptide on Portugal's Algarve swept away their children Lydia, 11, and Alex, nine.

He told an inquest in Swindon: "I was trying to make some headway, then she was suddenly torn from my grasp and disappeared."

Barbara, 43, died with their friends Robert and Deborah Fry, who left two children.

Deputy coroner Peter Hatvany, who praised Roy's bravery, recorded misadventure misadventure n. a death due to unintentional accident without any violation of law or criminal negligence. Thus, there is no crime. (See: homicide)
