Brave New Markets Promotes Clients with High-Tech Holiday Fun.

Online Fun & Games Deliver Seasons Greetings and Viral Marketing An online advertising approach that functions somewhat like word-of-mouth. The "viral" refers to how quickly it propagates, but its purpose is not to cause damage like a computer virus, but to make an offer available to the masses.  Success

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- With a click, customers can throw snowballs at their 'favorite' salesperson, create personalized messages with a skating penguin or test their skills in holiday themed games, part of a series of viral marketing campaigns which allow companies to reach out with humor humor, according to ancient theory, any of four bodily fluids that determined man's health and temperament. Hippocrates postulated that an imbalance among the humors (blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile) resulted in pain and disease, and that good health was  and fun during the holidays.

Brave New Markets (www.BraveNewMarkets.com), an Owings Mills, MD., full-service marketing company with deep expertise in the business-to-consumer and business-to-business arenas, developed the campaigns which combine e-mail greetings and online, interactive holiday games, branded for select clients of its Internet marketing See Internet advertising.  services.

campaigns for clients," explained the company's founder and President Marc Waldeck. "The games are a fun and memorable treat for each recipient and contain a 'viral' capability in that they can be forwarded to others."

Outstanding Success

"We're able to track the overall usage of each game and have found that both our B-to-B and B-to-C clients achieve outstanding success," said Waldeck. "The e-mail greetings generate an open rate (e-mails viewed by recipient) that is almost triple that of normal e-mail promotions and on average each game accessed is forwarded 3.4 times."

For each client, holiday greeting e-mails, which contained a link to a game on the clients' website, were sent to their specific opt-in e-mail See opt-in.  subscribers. Each game includes the option for the recipient to forward it via e-mail to someone else--the 'viral' component.

Waldeck said the challenge is to find and create games and content compelling enough that a recipient would enjoy the game and forward it on, in the process, forwarding the name of the client company that sent the bit of holiday fun.

"It's a new twist on both old-fashioned holiday fun and word-of-mouth advertising," Waldeck added.
