Brasil Telecom Launches VoIPfone Using Acme Packet Session Border Controllers; Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs enhance security and extend reach for business and residential VoIP services.


BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Acme Packet(R), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that Brasil Telecom Brasil Telecom S.A. (BrT) is a major Brazilian telecommunications company headquartered in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia. The company is one of three land line telephone companies in Brazil that emerged from the break-up of Telebrás. , the third largest fixed line service provider in Brazil, has selected its Net-Net(R) session border controllers A Session Border Controller is a device used in some VoIP networks to exert control over the signaling and usually also the media streams involved in setting up, conducting, and tearing down calls.  (SBCs) for VoIPfone service, a SIP-based business and residential VoIP offering. The Net-Net SBCs are also deployed in Brasil Telecom network supporting Multiconferencias, an IP-based multimedia conference service.

Brasil Telecom is using Acme Packet's Net-Net SBCs to provide trusted, high-quality delivery of business and residential VoIP services throughout Brazil.
