Brandon Gold Reports Six Anomalies Outlined at the El Caracol Concession, Mexico.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1997--Brandon Gold Corp. (VcSE:BG.) Brandon Gold Corporation, (BG.V), is pleased to announce the results of a recently completed stream sediment and regional mapping program on its 60 percent owned El Caracol (El) Caracol, from the Spanish term for "spiral (snail–, conch– seashell–) shaped", may refer to:
  • Caracol, an archaeological site and major centre of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization, located in present-day Belize
Concession in Guerrero State, Mexico. The program has been successful in identifying six main anomalous areas of gold in stream sediments as well as many scattered single point anomalies. El Caracol covers approximately 50,000 hectares immediately to the south of Farallon's Campo Morado Project where Farallon has delineated de·lin·e·ate

Details of these main anomalous zones are as follows: (also see map).

1. GOLONDRINAS: Located in the northwestern quadrant of El Caracol, a stream sediment sample returned 578 parts per billion (PPB) gold in an area of old workings. Reports dated from 1925 show that an old mine was producing gold from a massive pyrrhotite pyrrhotite (pĭr`ətīt) or magnetic pyrites, bronze-yellow to bronze-red mineral, a sulfide of iron sometimes containing nickel. It tarnishes easily and is somewhat magnetic.  vein averaging 4 ounces gold per ton at Golondrinas. Mine workings in the area are found over a strike length of 600 meters, however the Company has been unable to sample this high grade structure due to deterioration of the underground conditions. In addition to the positive stream sediment samples, soil geochemistry geochemistry, study of the chemical changes on the earth. More specifically, it is the study of the absolute and relative abundances of chemical elements in the minerals, soils, ores, rocks, water, and atmosphere of the earth and the distribution and movement of , ground magnetics and IP surveys have revealed four sets of old workings where chip sample results up to 11 grams per tonne gold over 1.2 meters have been collected from the Golondrinas structure in pyrrhotite rich andesite andesite

.

Mapping of a 26.6 kilometer grid shows that a large zone of disseminated pyrrhotite rich andesite has been discovered with low- grade gold values up to .260 grams per tonne surrounding a high level intrusive. In places, the periphery of the intrusive is mineralized min·er·al·ize

with grades up to 1.1 grams per tonne gold. A soil survey over the grid returned up to 5.1 grams per tonne gold in the area of the old workings and up to 1.85 grams per tonne gold in an area 500 meters north of the old workings.

A drill program is being planned for Golondrinas to test this high grade structure and some of the other anomalies in the area.

2. TERRERO: Located approximately seven kilometers east-south-east of Golondrinas, results from seven anomalous samples returned results up to 268 PPB gold. There is evidence of historical mine workings in the area.

3. SAN NICOLAS San Nicolas or San Nicolás ("Saint Nicholas") may refer to:
  • Argentina
  • San Nicolás, Buenos Aires Province
  • San Nicolás, inside Buenos Aires City
: Located approximately ten kilometers south west of Golondrinas where results from five stream sediment anomalies have returned up to 907 PPB gold. These results represent the known gold bearing structures that are located on San Nicolas del Oro.

4. SAN FELIPE San Felipe (săn fəlē`pā), pueblo (1990 pop. 1,557), Sandoval co., N central N.Mex., on the Rio Grande; founded early 18th cent. The inhabitants are Pueblo of the Keresan linguistic family. Ceremonial dances are held there in spring and winter. : Located approximately twelve kilometers south of Golondrinas, seven anomalous stream sediment samples returned up to 343 PPB gold.

5. EL BARRIO El Barrio can refer to any predominantly Hispanic American community, especially a lower or working class neighborhood. It may specifically refer to:
  • The Spanish Harlem district of New York
  • Parts of East Los Angeles
  • El Barrio (band), a flamenco band
: This anomaly is located on the eastern half of El Caracol less than ten kilometers south of the Tehuehuetla prospect, a gold-enriched massive sulfide body located on Farallon's Campo Morado Property. Nine anomalous stream sediment samples returned up to 160 PPB gold. This anomaly is located in the same host rock as the Tehuehuetla prospect.

6. LOS TEPEHUAJES: Located approximately seven kilometers south of El Barrio, eleven stream sediment anomalies returned up to 3000 PPB gold in the same host rocks as El Barrio and Tehuehuetla.

Management believes that the exploration potential for El Caracol is very good with the concession showing favorable geology and anomalous values for epithermal and skarn skarn

In geology, a metamorphic zone developed in the contact area around igneous rock intrusions when carbonate sedimentary rocks are invaded by and replaced with chemical elements that originate from the igneous rock mass nearby.
type gold and silver deposits as well as gold-enriched massive sulfide deposits. Occurrences of both types of deposits are located on or in very close proximity to the El Caracol Concession.

Based on these positive results, Phase Two exploration will start immediately consisting of detailed mapping and prospect evaluation with ground geophysics and soil surveys. As part of the exploration program, work will begin at the Company's 60 percent owned Mina Grande 1a and 2a concessions located directly west of El Caracol. The Mina Grande concessions are characterized by a series of mineralized structures trending north-south which consist of fault breccias A fault breccia (IPA: /ˈbrɛtʃiə, ˈbrɛʃ-/, Italian: breach) is a geological feature formed on a fault line. When two sides of a fault rub together, bits of each rock are scraped off and come together under huge pressure to form a fault breccia  with quartz containing oxides and sulfides with gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc values. Historical workings cover a strike length of 12 kilometers along these north-south trending structures. BRANDON GOLD CORPORATION Scott Angus, President
