Brandon Gold: New Mineralized Zone Discovered, Kiruna Block, Sweden.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1998--Brandon Gold Corporation (VSE:BG.) (BG.V) is pleased to announce that it has discovered a new mineralized zone on the northeastern section of Brandon's 100 percent owned Kiruna property in Northern Sweden. The Company has received assays from preliminary diamond drilling on 2 of 8 Phase I drill targets.

The preliminary diamond drill program is testing 8 target areas defined by co-incident geology, geochemistry and geophysics which are patterned after the well documented Viscaria Mine which lies within Brandon's Kiruna property. Viscaria, operated by Outokumpu Mines Ltd., was in production from 1982-1997 and produced 12.5 million tonnes grading 2.3 percent copper and 0.3 grams per tonne gold.

Another recently closed mine, Pahatohavare, also within the Brandon property, was in production from 1990-1996 and produced 1.68 million tonnes grading 1.89 percent copper and 1.30 grams per tonne gold. The geological signature is known as the "Viscaria formation" and is evident in both mines.

The new mineralized zone is a stacked massive sulphide system beneath a shallow lake (Vittankijarvi) 35 kilometres northeast of the Viscaria Mine. Geology typical of the "Viscaria formation" has been intercepted in all but one hole in the northeast drill program.

Significant mineralized intercepts include hole 98004 which intercepted 4.15 metres of 0.70 percent copper and 0.04 percent cobalt including 1.65 metres of 1.45 percent copper and 0.06 percent cobalt. Hole 98005 intercepted 19.8 metres grading 0.65 percent copper, 0.03 percent cobalt and 0.11 grams per tonne gold including 9.1 metres of 0.88 percent copper and 0.05 percent cobalt and 0.17 grams per tonne gold.

Anomalously high values of copper, cobalt and nickel were also intersected over significant core lengths outside of those listed above. The importance of this discovery is that it confirms the presence of mineralization and its association with the 40 kilometre long airborne geophysical signature outside of the existing mine areas.

Brandon is currently drilling two geophysical anomalies to the southwest of Vittankijarvi. A third drill rig is operating on the southwest border of the Viscaria Mine. Once complete, the rig will move to the northeast border where data from the mine shows the extension of the original Viscaria deposit onto the Brandon land claim.

Further drilling will include several more geophysical anomalies with coincidental geochemical showings throughout the Kiruna property. Brandon will also commence deep section induced polarization and diamond drilling on the Huornaisenvuoma carbonate hosted zinc deposit (560,000 tonnes at 4.6 percent zinc, 1.7 percent lead, 0.2 percent copper and 12 grams per tonne silver) in order to extend known mineralization along strike and at depth. The Huornaisenvuoma deposit is located approximately 60 kilometres east of the Kiruna block.

Upon completion of the preliminary program, Brandon will evaluate the data in order to prioritize the second phase of drilling. Brandon continues to outline new drill targets utilizing ongoing geophysical and geochemical programs. The Company has drilled over 90 basal till drill holes yielding 6 new, separate anomalous areas within the Kiruna Property.
