He is a member of the hip-hop group Brand Nubian, which formed in 1989. As an actor, he is best known for his role of Supreme Allah on the TV series Oz. , Sadat X and DJ Alamo, the Alamo, the (ăl`əmō') [Span.,=cottonwood], building in San Antonio, Tex., "the cradle of Texas liberty." In God We Trust was heralded by Newsday as "Uncompromising...One of the most striking hip-hop records of the year." Taking the solo stage, Grand Puba went on to release two albums, Reel To Reel, his debut in 1992 and 2000(1995). Puba also lent his production skills to such tracks as Shaggy's "Why You Treat Me So Bad," Mary J. Blige's "What's the 411?," as well as the Brand New Heavies' album Heavy Rhyme Experience, the MCA MCA in full Music Corporation of America Entertainment conglomerate. It was founded in Chicago in 1924 by Jules Stein as a talent agency. In the 1960s it bought Decca Records and Universal Pictures, and today it produces films, music, and television shows.
