Brancott Vineyards Shares in Parent Montana Wines' Glory.


MARLDOROUGH, New Zealand--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1999--

, and also head of the Brancott Vineyards winemaking team, received honors as White Winemaker of the Year in the International Wine Challenge 1999.

Prior to his acceptance of the award, Jeff said "I regard this award as a recognition of the skills and commitment of each and every one of the Montana wine-making team, not least of all our dedicated viticulturists for providing outstanding quality grapes."

Montana was also awarded White Wine of the Year for the Montana Reserve 1998 Barrique- Fermented Gisborne Chardonnay, a wine that is exported to Australia and the United Kingdom. Though America has only been acquainted with Montana Wines since Seagram Chateau & Estate Wines Company began importing the Brancott Vineyards brand in 1998, this is the fourth time Montana has had major success at the International Wine Challenge. Selections from Montana Wines portfolio are imported into the United States under the Brancott Vineyards label by Seagram Chateau & Estate Wines Company. The name for the US label was created in order to prevent consumer association with the state of Montana. The name Brancott comes from Montana's Brancott Estate vineyard, which is New Zealand's oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, planted in 1973.
