The Portland, Oregon Oregon, city, United States
Oregon, city (1990 pop. 18,334), Lucas co., NW Ohio, a suburb adjacent to Toledo, on Lake Erie; inc. 1958. It is a port with railroad-owned and -operated docks. The city has industries producing oil, chemicals, and metal products.

 Branch is pleased to report that it has helped to organize two Student Branches this year. One is at Lewis and Clark University Clark University, at Worcester, Mass.; coeducational; chartered 1887, opened as a graduate school 1889. It was the second graduate school to be formed in the United States. Its undergraduate college (est. 1902) was integrated with the university in 1920.  and is sponsored by Nancy Nagel. Key students involved are: Alicia Geiger, Kendra Carpenter, and Alison McLain. The other new Branch is at Concordia College, under the guidance of Sheryl Reinisch. Students Karen McAllister, Coreene Schilke, Regina Blevins, and Jennifer Hannah helped to organize this Branch.

Activities for these Branches began last fall with a welcome breakfast and campus meetings. This past winter, students were treated to pizza by the Portland Branch at an organizational meeting on the Concordia Campus. Mary Ellen Medina, Kirky Doblie, and Jean Schifferns helped facilitate the meeting.

The East Multnomah County, Oregon Multnomah County (IPA: [ml̩t ˈno mə]) is one of 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. Though smallest in area, it is the most populous[1] as its county seat, Portland, is the state's largest city. , and Portland ACEI Branches pooled resources to send Alison McLain (Lewis and Clark University) to the 2000 Annual Conference in Baltimore Baltimore, city (1990 pop. 736,014), N central Md., surrounded by but politically independent of Baltimore co., on the Patapsco River estuary, an arm of Chesapeake Bay; inc. 1745. .  all details for travel. During an informal get-together following the conference, Alison shared her experience with Concordia students.

This past summer, the Concordia College Branch co-planned some activities for next year with Portland ACEI. The students are interested in hosting a speaker on their campus and finding veteran classroom-teacher mentors to support them.
