Braemar Energy Ventures Promotes Jiong Ma to Partner.

 -- Braemar Energy Ventures, a venture capital fund making early- to mid-stage investments in the energy technology sector, announced today that Jiong Ma, Ph.D. has been appointed partner in the firm. Dr. Ma is based in the firm's Boston office.

Since joining Braemar in 2007, Dr. Ma has led, or co-led, several key investments in companies that apply energy efficient technologies to existing industries. She has led investments in laser technology company Laser Light Engines and in 'green computing' companies Convey Computer and Powervation. She also served as co-lead on investments in energy efficient lighting companies Fulham and Luminus Devices.

Dr. Ma has nearly 15 years of research, operating and venture capital experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining Braemar, she was with the venture group at 3i, a global private equity firm where she was responsible for investment in the information technology and cleantech sectors. Prior to 3i, Dr. Ma held several senior positions at Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs. She was also a founding team member of Onetta, a fiber networks start-up company, and a technical staff member of Nortel Networks (Nortel Networks Limited, Brampton, Ontario, www.nortelnetworks.com) A world leader in telecommunications products, which includes switching, wireless and broadband systems for service providers and carriers, telephones and systems for residential and business users, computer telephony .
