Lawyers have told the pair no further action will be taken against them as part of the probe into suspected tax irregularities. The two were arrested by City of London Police The City of London Police is the Home Office police force responsible for the City of London, including the Middle and Inner Temple. (The Metropolitan Police is responsible for the rest of London, excluding the railways and underground system, which are policed by the British officers as part of a wider investigation into corruption in football. In a statement released this afternoon the club said: "David Sullivan and Karren Brady are pleased to confirm that following a two-year investigation by City of London Police and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs HMRC was formed by a merger of the Inland Revenue and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise and came into formal existence on 18 April 2005. He said the joint investigation focused on allegations that payments were made to individuals which were not declared to the tax authorities. The spokesman said: "It has been decided in accordance with the code for Crown prosecutors that, in relation to two employees of Birmingham City Football Club, criminal proceedings will not be instituted against them." Ms Brady, 40, and Mr Sullivan, 60, vehemently denied any wrongdoing. The pair were first questioned in August 2007 and reinterviewed in April 2008 on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting. Seven other football figures, including Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric, the Leicester City chairman, have also been questioned.
