Bradley J. Siegel Named President, General Entertainment Networks, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1999--

Bradley J. Siegel has been promoted to the newly created position of president, general entertainment networks, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), it was announced today by Terence F. McGuirk, chairman and chief executive officer of TBS, Inc.

To his current responsibilities as president of Turner Network Television (TNT) and Turner Classic Movies, Siegel adds oversight of TBS, Inc.'s flagship entertainment network, TBS Superstation, and Turner South, the company's first regional entertainment service, set to launch October 1, 1999. Siegel will continue to be based in Atlanta and report to Steven J. Heyer, president and chief operating officer, TBS, Inc., as does Betty Cohen, president, Cartoon Network Worldwide.

Siegel joined TBS, Inc. in January 1993 as executive vice president of TNT, and assumed the presidency of the network in August 1994. Under his leadership, TNT has emerged as the prime time leader in the delivery of key adult demographics for the past three years. The network's signature TNT Originals franchise has premiered such acclaimed films as "Gettysburg," "Andersonville," "George Wallace" and "Pirates of Silicon Valley," garnering awards including Emmys, Golden Globes, CableACEs and the Humanitas Prize. Siegel has overseen the expansion of the network's original programming offerings to include non-fiction specials; music events such as the TNT Masters series, which have featured tributes to Burt Bacharach and Johnny Cash; and a slate of original series currently in development. He has also been instrumental in TNT's licensing of top off-network series, including "E.R.," "Law & Order" and "In the Heat of the Night," as well as TBS, Inc.'s aggressive acquisition of contemporary theatrical motion pictures in the broadcast network window, among them "Shine," "The English Patient," the "Austin Powers" films, "Deep Blue Sea," "The Matrix," "As Good As It Gets," "L.A. Confidential" and "The Wedding Singer."

He has overseen Turner Classic Movies since its launch in April 1994. Since then, TCM has become one of the most popular new networks, adding top classics to its unparalleled movie library and expanding its original programming efforts to include series and long-form documentaries. In 1998, Turner Classic Movies grew its household distribution by nearly 50 percent, with the network currently approaching 35 million subscribers. TCM recently added to its list of awards the network's first Emmy nomination, as well as numerous Promax, CTAM and BDA honors for creative excellence, including BDA's Best of Show. Surveys consistently place TCM at the top of their most-desired new networks.

Formerly vice president of programming and production at American Movie Classics, Siegel was earlier vice president of programming for Bridgeways Communications and vice president and general manager of Campus Network Inc. Siegel earned bachelor of arts degrees in history and art history from Washington University. He is the recipient of the 1997 National Cable Television Association Vanguard Award for Leadership and serves on the board of directors of UNICEF.

TBS Superstation, currently seen in 78 million homes, is the most-watched cable network. The Superstation features popular movies, original programming, outstanding sports and favorite comedies.

Turner Network Television, currently seen in 76 million homes, offers original motion pictures and miniseries; original series, non-fiction specials and live events; contemporary films; popular series; NBA sports action; and exclusive coverage of the 2000 Winter and 2001 Summer Goodwill Games.

In addition, she is responsible for the brand management of four international television extensions: Cartoon Network Europe, Cartoon Network Latin America & the Caribbean, Cartoon Network Asia Pacific and Cartoon Network Japan. Currently, Cohen is overseeing the establishment of the new Cartoon Network Studios, a dedicated production facility located in Los Angeles. She also serves as president of Turner Learning, the educational division of TBS, Inc.
