Brad Kingsbury moves to CyberMedia from Symantec.

Tuesday announced that Brad Kingsbury, former chief technologist with Symantec, has joined CyberMedia as chief technologist.

During his 10-year career at Symantec, Kingsbury was a key executive with Symantec's Peter Norton Computing Peter Norton Computing, Inc., was a software company founded by Peter Norton. One of the most notable software packages it produced is Norton Utilities. Another very popular software was Norton Commander, especially the DOS version. CyberMedia is widely recognized for its best-selling First Aid family of software products which automatically fix a wide range of Windows 3.1 and 95 software problems. The company recently announced Oil Change, a new software technology which enables PC users to automatically download and install updates and patches to the software on their PC over the Internet.

As chief technologist, Kingsbury will be responsible for the development and direction of CyberMedia's product lines. He is well known in the industry as a leading software designer and innovator -- particularly in the "utility" software category.

Kingsbury was the sole designer, author, architect and programmer of the Norton Utilities from Version 3.1 to Version 5.0. He developed such programs as Speed Disk, UnFormat, Quick UnErase, Calibrate To adjust or bring into balance. Scanners, CRTs and similar peripherals may require periodic adjustment.
