The newest Boys & Girls Club facility, the Robert M. Shopneck Branch, will be built in Brighton and is expected to open in 2007 at the conclusion of a $4 million capital campaign. In addition, Arigoni is credited with recruiting experienced staff and establishing "a culture of accountability" throughout BGCMD, objectives he intends to carry into his new position. His attention to staff performance and a significant improvement in employee benefits helped create dramatic improvements in employee retention. "It will be very hard for us to say goodbye to John after the incredible work he has done and the terrific leadership he has provided to all of us," said Bob Shopneck, president of the BGCMD board of Directors. "The good news is that five million children around the country will now have John working on their behalf out of our national office."
