Boyd Bros. Names Chris Cooper General Manager in Birmingham.

. Transportation Inc. (NASDAQ/SmallCap: BOYD) today announced today that, effective January 1, 2003, Christopher R. Cooper will become General Manager of the Company's Birmingham operations. In that role, he will assume full day-to-day responsibility for the Alabama region. Cooper, who joined the Company in 2000, has served in numerous operational capacities, most recently as Assistant Director of Maintenance. In connection with his appointment to this position, he will relocate to Birmingham from the Company's headquarters in Clayton.

Cooper, a native of Clayton, has a strong family history in the trucking business. His grandfather, Dempsey Boyd, founded Boyd Bros. transportation in 1951. His mother, Gail, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Trucking Association.
