Boy stuck in homemade balloon drifts over US


A six-year-old boy was reported trapped in a makeshift helium balloon drifting dangerously over Colorado in the central United States The Central United States is sometimes conceived as between the Eastern United States and Western United States as part of a three-region model, roughly coincident with the Midwestern United States plus the western and central portions of the Southern United States; the term is  on Thursday.

Images of the silver mushroom-shaped craft were transmitted by Denver television station KUSA, as it sped through the sky at altitudes of up to two kilometers in the air (7,000 feet) and at some points hurtling toward the earth.

 reportedly clocked the balloon traveling at 25 miles (40 kilometers) per hour.

Helicopters were tracking the enclosed silver balloon, which was reportedly made by the boy's father.

 said the family called the craft a "homemade flying saucer flying saucer: see unidentified flying objects. ."

Police said there was no way to reach the boy inside or to ascertain his condition.

The balloon's basket was enclosed so the boy was not visible from television pictures.
