Boy in teacher-sex case back in Neb.

A 14-year-old illegal immigrant who fled to Mexico with his former teacher has reunited with his family in Nebraska, his lawyer said Thursday.

Amy Peck said her client arrived Wednesday after the Department of Homeland Security gave him humanitarian parole, a seldom-granted measure that lets people into the country temporarily.

The boy, who was born in Mexico, left Lexington with his former teacher, 25-year-old Kelsey Peterson. Peterson is accused of having sex with him and is in custody facing federal and state charges.

Peterson has pleaded not guilty in federal court to crossing a border to have sex with a minor. She faces 10 years to life in prison if convicted.

Peck has said the boy will attend Peterson's next hearing in the federal case, set for Feb. 29.
