Boy dies at school sport day.

Sports days are annual events staged by many schools in which children participate in competitive sporting activities, often with the aim of winning trophies or prizes.

Jack Miller was lining up for a photo with his mum, brother and sister after a 100-metre sprint when tragedy struck.

Jack, a pupil at Ardvreck Prep School, in Crieff, was treated on the spot by spectators before paramedics arrived.

He was flown to Ninewells Hospital The Ninewells Hospital is a hospital situated on the western edge of Dundee, Scotland at .

Jack's father flew over from Ireland upon hearing the news. He and his wife, who are separated, were being comforted by friends at the family home in Clathy, near Perth.

Jack, who was born prematurely and needed an inhaler, suffered a head injury a year ago which caused him to have fits.

The effort of the race in unusually hot weather, are believed to have triggered an attack.

The school flag flew at half mast yesterday.

Headmaster Paddy Watson said: "Our thoughts are with his family."
