Boy critical after being hit by car.


AN EIGHT-year-old boy is in hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a people carrier in Birmingham.

Paramedics said the vehicle involved had gone by the time they got there but police were unable to confirm whether the incident was a hit-and-run.

Paramedics and a rapid response crew arrived at the scene in Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, at about 5.45pm yesterday and found the local boy with serious injuries. The boy was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital Birmingham Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust manage the central Birmingham hospital now also known as The Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, which provides general and emergency health care services to children in Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond. .

"A 12-year-old boy who was with the eight-yearold at the time of the incident was extremely shaken by what had happened but was uninjured."

Police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 0845 113 5000.
