Boy Scouts of America Cascade Pacific Council Announces Entertainment and Activity Highlights of Scoutrageous 2000, September 8 -- 10.

Years of Scouting in the United States Scouting in the United States can refer to Scouting associations that are recognized by one of the international Scouting organizations as well as independent groups that are considered to be "Scout-like"or otherwise Scouting related.  

The Cascade Pacific Council, Boy Scouts of America Noun 1. Boy Scouts of America - a corporation that operates through a national council that charters local councils all over the United States; the purpose is character building and citizenship training , today announced the program for Scoutrageous 2000, a three-day camping event at McIver State Park for Scouts from Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Scoutrageous 2000 celebrates the 90th anniversary of Scouting, and is projected to be the largest gathering of Scouts in the council's history. Luis Palau, noted religious speaker and author, will be the special guest speaker for the Friday night activities. Scoutrageous 2000 will feature two nights of camping and three full days of activities for Scouts and Scout leaders from Oregon, Washington, and other Western States. Families and invited youth interested in Scouting may participate in the day's Scoutrageous events on Saturday, September 9. In addition to the activities offered, there will be several special guests at the event: Reptile Man Richard Richie will give demonstrations that include animal sounds and a monkey bridge. Independent U.S.
 astronaut trainer Steve Feaster will teach the dos and don'ts of space travel in a science area featuring water rockets and giant slingshots.

The weekend event will be highlighted by a Saturday night arena show featuring nationally known comedian and ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, a candle lighting re-dedication ceremony, a laser light show, and a fireworks extravaganza with 10,000 shells set off over 25 minutes. National Chief Scout Executive The Chief Scout Executive is the top professional of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In most similar non-profit organizations, this is equivalent to the position of executive director.

The current Chief Scout Executive is Robert J.
, Roy Williams, will make a special guest appearance. Williams said, "The Cascade Pacific Council has consistently been one of the top camping councils in the nation. Scouts in Oregon and Washington benefit from excellent volunteer leadership. Youth need to be a part of an organization like Scouting that is both fun and educational."

The Cascade Pacific Council is expecting 8,000 to 10,000 campers for the weekend, and an additional 5,000 to 7,000 visitors on Saturday. "The 90th anniversary is the perfect time for all Scouters to come together in a beautiful outdoor setting to celebrate the movement's heritage and purpose," stated Council President Steve Pratt. "Each person will come away knowing that he was a part of something special."

Eligibility and Costs

All Scouts and Scout leaders in the Cascade Pacific Council are invited to participate in Scoutrageous. Scouts are encouraged to invite parents, siblings, and grandparents grandparents nplabuelos mpl

 for the daytime activities on Saturday. Scouts are also encouraged to invite friends who are interested in learning more about the benefits of becoming Boy Scouts.

The fees for Scoutrageous 2000 are modest for both day-use and overnight participation:

-- Overnight Camping: $25 per person

-- Day-Use Only: $10.00 per person

-- Children six and under may be registered at no charge for

participation on Saturday.
