Magee's manager Mike Callahan arrived back last night from talks in London with promoter Frank Warren, who intends to stage Hatton's summer defence at Manchester City's Maine Road ground.

Callahan said: "This is a great fight for Eamonn. We know that Witter is on a real roll at the moment and he's chasing a fight with Hatton just like Eamonn.

"There are a lot of fighters who don't want to go near Witter because he's an awkward customer who can make you look bad and he's got power as well.

"But when I put it to Eamonn he said 'no problem' and the fight has been made for April 5 in Manchester."
