Boxer Software updates its line of Boxer Text editors -- DOS, Extended-DOS and OS/2 versions are each enhanced with 85 new features and options.


PETERBOROUGH, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 1995--Boxer Software announced the release of Version 7.0 of its award-winning Boxer Text Editors for DOS, Extended-DOS and OS/2 platforms.

The Boxer Text Editors each contain a wide range of features which appeal to programmers, writers, power users and others who need to manipulate ASCII text Alphanumeric characters that are not in any proprietary file format. See ASCII file. .

The Version 7.0 release adds 85 new features and options, many in direct response to customer suggestions. Boxer Text Editors comes in three configurations: Boxer/DOS, which uses conventional 640K memory for editing and is suitable for most text editing tasks; Boxer/TKO, which is a protected mode DOS editor capable of editing very large files due to its use of XMS (1) See cross memory services.

(2) (eXtended Memory Specification) A programming interface that allowed DOS programs to use memory above 1MB in 286s and up.
 and/or EMS memory; and Boxer OS/2, a 32-bit character mode editor which supports HPFS (High Performance File System) The file system introduced with OS/2 Version 1.2 that handles large disks (2TB volumes; 2GB files) and long file names (256 bytes). It coexists with the existing FAT system.
