Bowls: Baldwin cruise to final victory.

THE Alliance cup final between Baldwin and Woodbourne on the British Legion green proved to be an anti-climax.

 opened the proceedings for Baldwin with 21-5 wins apiece over Di and Keith Wallis.

Pete Brannan and Graham Thomas Graham Thomas FRSA has been a leading UK and international advertising man, working for much of his career with Saatchi & Saatchi. He was Vice Chairman of the UK agency during the late 1980s and then worked as Regional Director in Asia/Pacific where he was awarded Ad Ages's  then lost to sixteen playing Mark Hemming and Martin Moore.

Things didn't get any better for the Rumbush Lane outfit as Baldwin made it a clean sweep to lift the cup.

In the singles merit final played on the Black Horse green, thirteen hopefuls lined up.

John Newsoms (Kings Norton Ex-Service) took out Steve Jesic (Grasshopper grasshopper, name applied to almost 9,000 different species of singing, jumping insects in two families of the order Orthoptera. Grasshoppers are long, slender, winged insects with powerful hind legs and strong mandibles, or mouthparts, adapted for chewing. ) 21-12, and Paul Whitcombe (Baldwin) edged out Clive Dolphin from Wythall 21-13 in the prelims.

In round one, this scribe (Bournville Social) lost 18-21 to Colin Parkes of Wythall. Gary Smith (Bournville Social) took out Vince Brotherton from Warstock with 21-6, and Tony Toal (Woodbourne) edged past Adrian Neild 21-19, also from Warstock.

Whitcombe stopped Newsome with 21-13 to move to the semis. Toal then moved through to the final, 21-19 over Whitcombe, and Parkes progressed with 21-15 over Smith.

The final could have gone either way. Colin grabbed the title with his 21-18 win over Tony.

The Doubles Merit final was held on the Olde Knowle green with eighteen pairs lining up.

In the semis, Aaron and Richard Byrne (Bournville Social), won to twelve with John Byrne and Martin Rothen (Tyseley) winning by that same scoreline scoreline n (SPORT) → resultado final

In the final, Richard and Aaron got off to a flier and were 7-2 up, then 12-5 up. They never looked back winning with plenty to spare, 21-10 to lift the pairs title for Bournville Social.
