Yesterday, 22-year-oldKevin Jaap,from Rhyl, was busy training at Chester Megabowl, alongside fellow Welsh international Gareth Holder, from Llanelli. Kevin and the Welsh team will face stiff competition from 66 nations at the world championships in Kuala Lumpur, which run from September 9--20. A recent graduate from Liverpool John Moores University Originally founded as a small mechanics institution (Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts) in 1825, the institution grew over the centuries by converging and amalgamating with different colleges and eventually became the Liverpool Polytechnic. ,Kevin has been working part time at the Chester bowling complex for the last three years. Kevin already has some experience on the international stage. As a junior he competed in leagues and tournaments before being picked to play for the Welsh under-16s team. He said: ``It is great to be able to compete for my country again. ``Having the opportunity to compete at an international level really is a dream come true.'' After the world championships Kevin will be off to the Honduras,in Central America, where he will be representing Wales in the individual AMF World Cup The AMF World Cup, now a joint partnership between Qubica and AMF (now called the Qubica/AMF World Cup), is an annual Ten-pin bowling championship, and one of the largest in terms of number of participating nations. .
