Bowl sale delight for pensioner.


A NORTH Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  pensioner PENSIONER. One who is supported by an allowance at the will of another. It is more usually applied to him who receives an annuity or pension from the government.  was thrilled after discovering an old bowl hidden in a box full of broken porcelain was worth pounds 5,500.

The Llanrwst vendor, in her 80s, could hardly believe her ears when Adrian Byrne, Halls Fine Art's senior auctioneer in Chester, told her the good news about the Chelsea porcelain Chelsea porcelain

Soft-paste porcelain made in the London borough of Chelsea. The factory, established c. 1743, produced its greatest wares—tableware and bird figures, with designs inspired by Meissen porcelain and marked with a raised anchor on an oval
 finger bowl.

Measuring 3 1 4 inches across, the finger bowl was rescued by Mr Byrne from a box of broken pieces of porcelain during a visit to the pensioner's home.

"She had asked us to sell a collection of Royal Worcester and other decorative and interesting pieces, " he said.

"Just by chance she showed me a box of broken bits of porcelain under the display cabinet and with them was the finger bowl, which was made around the 1755 and is a rarity."

After competition from four telephone bidders, the tiny piece of porcelain eventually sold to a Cheshire collector who attended the Booth Mansion saleroom auction.

It was a good day for the pensioner who also sold a pair of Royal Worcester vases for nearly pounds 400, an early 19th century Welsh carved double shoe snuff snuff, preparation of pulverized tobacco used by sniffing it into the nostrils, chewing it, or placing it between the gums and the cheek. The blended tobacco from which it is made is often aged for two or three years, fermented at least twice, ground, and usually  box and cover for pounds 250 and an ivory toothpick toothpick,
