Bowater appoints James H. Dorton Vice President - Treasurer.

:BOW) today announced the appointment of James H. Dorton as Vice President-Treasurer.

He will report to David G. Maffucci, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Dorton, 40, fills the position previously held by Mr. Maffucci who became Chief Financial Officer last November.

Mr. Dorton formerly served as Treasurer for a publicly held company in the computer field.

He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee The University of Tennessee (UT), sometimes called the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UT Knoxville or UTK), is the flagship institution of the statewide land-grant University of Tennessee public university system in the American state of Tennessee.  and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants With over 330,525 CPA members (in August 2006), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the largest professional organization of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the United States of America. .

Bowater Incorporated is the largest producer of newsprint in the U.S., and also makes coated and uncoated groundwood papers, bleached kraft pulp, continuous computer forms and lumber products. It has five paper mills, five converting plants and 3.6 million acres of timberlands in the U.S. and Canada.
