Bovis Awarded SAUSD Contract on $24 Million Mendez Fundamental Intermediate School Project.

Bovis Performing Construction Administration Services

for Unique Space Conservation School

Bovis Construction Corp., one of the leading construction service organizations in the world, announced that it will manage the completion of the $24 million Mendez Fundamental (Space Saver) Intermediate School, which broke ground in November 1997.

Bovis was awarded the contract by the Santa Ana Unified School District Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) is a school district in Orange County, California that serves the city of Santa Ana. Although its geographic size is only 24 square miles, it is the third largest school district in the state of California with 61,693 students.  (SAUSD SAUSD Santa Ana Unified School District (California) ) on a 5-0 vote.

, is being built on a five-acre lot behind an existing shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into . The lot is almost half the size of average intermediates in the state and therefore calls for the additional construction management expertise that Bovis will provide.

The multi-story, joint-use project addresses a desperate need for additional space in the school district and will be the first multi-story complex developed to accommodate more than 1,200 students, faculty and staff. Plans for the school include: open space lunch court, grand stairs entry, specialized programs wing, and a ground floor parking garage for use by the neighboring department stores.

Mendez Fundamental Intermediate will be the ninth intermediate school in the district. Bovis will monitor the construction process and documentation through project completion and closeout closeout, closure

the finalization of a feeding program in a feedlot. The cattle are sold and a balance sheet is struck which includes the costs of feeding and housing or confining them.
